The imprint

Enharmonic Books

Enharmonic Books is the children's picture-book imprint of F-flat Books. We make joyful, music-filled stories that help kids find their voice — books that are as much fun to sing and play as they are to read.

Why “Enharmonic”?

The same joy, spelled many ways.

In music, two notes are enharmonic when they're written differently but sound exactly the same — G-sharp and A-flat, one pitch with two names. It's a small bit of music theory with a big idea inside it: there are many ways to write the same beautiful sound.

That's what we want our books to be. Music can be a nervous first day, a silly Halloween song, a summer in the Dominican Republic, or a street full of homemade instruments — different notations of the same joy. And every child, however they come to it, is welcome to join the song.

What we publish

Picture books where the lesson sings.

  • Music for everyone

We believe every child deserves the joy of making music. Our books open the door — no experience, and no expensive instruments, required.

  • Stories that teach

Each title carries a real idea: courage, kindness, community, culture. The music is how the lesson sings.

  • Made by musicians

Our authors and illustrators are working music teachers, therapists, and artists. These are the books they wished they had.

Part of the family

Enharmonic Books is one of the imprints of F-flat Books, an independent, music-loving publisher in Philadelphia, PA. Our sister imprint, Locrian Books, publishes fiction for grown-ups. Questions? Write to [email protected].
